East Lothian Housing Association (ELHA) has invested in COSIE homes to gain clearer visibility into environmental conditions across its housing stock, helping support resident wellbeing, protect homes, and strengthen long-term decision-making.

The vision

ELHA wants to develop a better understanding of conditions inside its homes to build a richer picture of its homes, using reliable data to support healthier living environments and reduce the risk of more serious maintenance issues developing over time.

As expectations on housing providers continue to rise, ELHA has recognised that better property data is essential. Temperature and humidity data, in particular, help reveal how homes are performing, and where early action may be needed, and how to avoid larger repair costs in the future.

The Solution

East Lothian Housing Association has adopted COSIE homes to capture ongoing temperature and humidity data across its homes, which has enabled the organisation to start building a larger and more useful dataset about its properties. Rather than relying only on reactive reporting or isolated inspections, the team now has access to a more consistent stream of information about environmental conditions in the home.

That data supports a more proactive approach. It helps the organisation better understand the relationship between living conditions, property performance, and future maintenance risk.

Martin Pollhammer, CEO, East Lothian Housing Association stated:

“Our vision is for healthy, happy homes. It is about making sure people can come home and enjoy being there, without worrying about the condition of the property. COSIE homes is helping us build the data we need to understand our homes better and make better decisions for the future.”

Emma Mahy, Founder and CEO of IoTSG stated:

“Healthy, happy homes start with better data. By having a continuous data set about how properties are performing landlords can invest in the right properties at the right time, minimising their expenditure, and they can also advise tenants on how best to heat their home. With COSIE homes ELHA can focus on providing healthy and happy homes for their tenants.”
